SeaWorld Provides New Home to Sea Lions Affected by Hurricane Katrina
Orlando, FL (August 30, 2005)

SeaWorld has the world's leading marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation program - routinely assisting with efforts to save animals around the world.

Today, SeaWorld Orlando dispatched their animal rescue team to help transport nine sea lions who need a home. The sea lions are owned by Marine Animal Productions, in Gulfport, Mississippi, and need to be extricated as their facility was demolished by Hurricane Katrina. A more centrally-located aquarium is picking up the sea lions now and taking them to Ft. Walton Beach, where SeaWorld Orlando's animal rescue team will meet the marine mammals to bring them back to central Florida. Initially, the animals will be housed in one of SeaWorld Orlando's back area facilities as they must be quarantined before being introduced into the current population of animals at the Orlando adventure park.

SeaWorld's animal rescue team is on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to assist with animals in need - lending its expertise and resources as needed.
